A Forest for the Desert

Tells the story of how, more than 500 years ago, a nomadic people erected the capital of the Saudi kingdom around an oasis. Today, with more than 8 million residents, hundreds of kilometres of tarmac and skyscrapers that can touch the clouds, Riyadh is bidding to be one of the 100 best cities in the world by 2030.

An architectural, social and cultural resurgence characterised by mega constructions. Among these is a huge steel forest, which entailed one of the greatest challenges in the history of civil infrastructure installation.
